HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.

It refers to the systems used to control indoor temperature, air quality, and overall comfort in homes and commercial buildings.

At Clima, we specialise in complete comfort solutions: ❄️🔥

  • 🌱 Air Source Heat Pumps
  • ❄️ Air Conditioning
  • 🧊 Refrigeration
  • 🌬️ Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)

Delivering efficient, reliable climate control for homes and businesses all year round

We cover the Yorkshire region, including York, Harrogate, Leeds, Wakefield, Hull, Sheffield, and Doncaster, along with surrounding areas. We also regularly travel further north, covering Thirsk, Northallerton, Middlesbrough, and up to Newcastle.

In addition, we undertake projects nationwide, supporting clients across the UK with the same high standards of service and expertise. If you are located further afield, please still get in touch—we would be happy to discuss your requirements and explore how we can support your project.

The lifespan of an HVAC system depends on the type of equipment, usage, and how well it’s maintained - but here are typical ranges:

⏳ Average Lifespans

  • ❄️ Air conditioning systems: 10–15 years
  • 🌡️ Air source heat pumps: 15–20 years
  • 🌬️ MVHR systems: 15–20 years

🔧 What affects lifespan?

  • Regular maintenance – annual servicing can significantly extend system life
  • Usage levels – systems used year-round may wear faster
  • Installation quality – a properly installed system lasts longer
  • System quality – higher-end units tend to be more durable

💡 How to extend lifespan

  • Keep up with routine servicing
  • Replace or clean filters regularly
  • Address minor issues early
  • Ensure systems are properly sized and installed

We offer a full range of HVAC maintenance services to keep your systems running efficiently and reliably all year round.

🔧 Routine Servicing

Regular inspections and servicing of air conditioning, heat pumps, and ventilation systems to ensure optimal performance.

🧼 Cleaning & Filter Replacement

Cleaning internal components and replacing filters to maintain air quality and system efficiency.

⚙️ System Checks & Diagnostics

Thorough checks of electrical connections, refrigerant levels, and overall system operation to identify potential issues early.

❄️ Performance Optimisation

Fine-tuning systems to improve efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and extend equipment lifespan.

🚨 Fault Finding & Preventative Maintenance

Identifying and addressing minor issues before they become costly repairs or breakdowns.

📅 Planned Maintenance Contracts

Scheduled maintenance plans tailored to your property, giving you peace of mind and priority support.

🔍 Initial Survey & Design

An engineer assesses your property, discusses your needs, and recommends the best system and placement for optimal performance.

📍 Unit Positioning

Indoor units are mounted on walls, ceilings, or concealed spaces, while the outdoor unit is installed in a suitable external location.

🔧 Installation Work

  • Small holes are drilled for pipework and cables
  • Refrigerant pipes, electrics, and drainage are connected
  • Units are securely fixed in place

⚡ System Connection & Testing

The system is vacuumed, charged with refrigerant if needed, and fully tested to ensure it’s running efficiently and safely.

🧼 Clean-Up & Demonstration

The area is tidied, and you’re shown how to use your new system, including controls and maintenance tips.

 You’re likely eligible if:

  • 🏡 You own the property (homeowner, landlord, or self-build)
  • 🔥 You’re replacing a fossil fuel system (gas, oil, LPG, or electric heating)
  • 📄 Your home has a valid EPC certificate (within 10 years)
  • 📍 The property is in England or Wales

Most properties can have air conditioning installed, but the type of system and complexity will vary depending on the building;

✅ Suitable for most properties

  • 🏡 Houses (new build or older)
  • 🏢 Flats and apartments
  • 🏬 Offices and commercial spaces

🔧 What affects installation?

  • Available space – for indoor units and an outdoor condenser
  • Property layout – open-plan vs multiple rooms
  • Wall access – for pipework and ventilation
  • Power supply – adequate electrical capacity
  • Planning restrictions – especially in listed buildings or flats

Still not sure, get in touch today and one of the team will be happy to help!
